About This Call
Art In Public Places (AIPP) is an outdoor sculpture exhibition open to artists 18 years of age or older residing in the United States. Sculptors may enter up to three completed artworks that were created in the last five years and have not been previously exhibited in AIPP Knoxville. The entry fee is $25 per application. Applicants should submit 1-3 views of each sculpture (9 photographs total) and address the sculpture's footing method, installation requirements, and overall dimensions.
Work must be suitable for outdoor installation and capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions, high winds, below zero temperatures, and snowstorms. Sculptures must be durable, require limited to no maintenance, and take into consideration audience safety. Concrete sculpture pads and electricity will be provided for installation and removal. Artists are responsible for shipping and delivering sculptures to and from the installation site and for timely installation/removal within scheduled dates. Dogwood Arts will provide equipment (crane and forklifts) and expert assistance, but artists must oversee and participate in the installation/removal process and bring required tools and hardware. Installation dates are June 11-12, 2021, and the exhibition runs from June 15, 2021 to June 17, 2022, with removal dates June 17-18, 2022.
Awards include $3,000 for Best of Show, $2,000 for 2nd Place, $1,000 for 3rd Place, $1,000 for People's Choice Award, and $500 for two Honorable Mention Awards. All finalists whose works are installed will receive an Artist Stipend of $2,000 per sculpture ($1,000 upon delivery and $1,000 upon removal). Artists are encouraged to sell their sculptures during the exhibition; the commission split is 80% to the artist and 20% to Dogwood Arts. Copyright of the artwork remains with the artist. Contact Kate Creason at [email protected] for questions.
