About This Call
Art In Public Places Sculpture Exhibition (AIPP) is open to artists 18 years of age or older residing in the United States. Sculptors may enter up to three completed artworks. All works must have been created in the last five years and not previously exhibited in AIPP Knoxville. The application fee is $30 (non-refundable). Submit 1-3 views of each sculpture (9 photographs total), along with a current artist statement. Include information about the sculpture's footing method, installation requirements, and overall dimensions.
Work must be suitable for outdoor installation and capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, below zero temperatures, snowstorms), high traffic environments, and require limited to no maintenance. Sculptures must be installation-ready. Artwork will be reviewed by Dogwood Arts staff and City of Knoxville officials upon arrival. If deemed structurally unsound or misrepresented, acceptance and artist stipend will be revoked. Artists are responsible for shipping and delivering sculptures to and from the installation site and for timely installation/removal within scheduled dates. Dogwood Arts will provide equipment (crane and forklifts) and expert assistance. Artists must oversee and participate in installation/removal, bring required tools and hardware, and are responsible for any additional costs incurred due to untimely installation/removal.
Notification of acceptance is March 17, 2022. Installation occurs in June 2022 (exact dates TBA), with exhibition running June 2022 – June 2023 (exact dates TBA). Awards include: $3,000 Best of Show, $2,000 Second Place, $1,000 Third Place, $1,000 People's Choice Award, and $500 for two Honorable Mention Awards. All finalists whose works are installed receive an Artist Stipend of $2,000 per sculpture ($1,000 upon delivery and $1,000 upon removal). Sculptures sold during the exhibition will not receive the $1,000 removal stipend. Artists retain copyright; Dogwood Arts will credit the artist and may use images for promotional or educational materials. Sales are handled by Dogwood Arts with a 70/30 commission split (70% to artist, 30% to Dogwood Arts). Contact Emily Curran at [email protected] with questions.
