About This Call
Colorado Mesa University is seeking to acquire multiple artworks from regional artists for the Health Sciences building. The Selection Committee will consider 2D works including paintings, photography, mixed media, and fabric, as well as relief sculpture that is wall-mounted and does not protrude more than 4". Artworks of various sizes will be considered for different wall spaces throughout the building, including hallways, student lounge, and conference rooms. The largest available walls can accommodate artwork up to 8' long by 10' wide. There are also opportunities for 3D artworks and sculpture for exterior areas including the building entrance and outdoor pavilion areas; listed prices for 3D works should include all installation costs and necessary display elements.
Artists should consider the building's use as home to the nursing and medical technology departments, as well as the contemporary design and nature of the building. The Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on artistic excellence, technical competence, conceptual compatibility, scale, material, form, content, and ease of maintenance with minimal and low-cost upkeep. All purchased artworks will be owned by the State of Colorado via Colorado Mesa University.
Eligibility is limited to artists based in Colorado or Utah. Applicants must submit 3-6 digital images of available artwork, a resume outlining professional accomplishments, and a statement of interest of 250 words or less. Up to 3 available artworks may be submitted for consideration. There is no application fee. The total budget for artwork acquisition is $77,000. For questions, contact Ashton Collett at [email protected] or 970-987-2394.
