About This Call

The Art in Public Places Commission is seeking to display unique, original artwork of a diverse range. Regional artists are invited to submit up to three different pieces. All artwork must be size/scale appropriate to available space and will be installed in predetermined spaces selected by the panel. No additional lighting will be provided. Artwork must be appropriate for public display and will not be considered if it could be interpreted as offensive, religious, or political in nature.

The selection panel will consider appropriateness, durability, uniqueness, compatibility with an available site, and safety. Sculptural submissions for outdoors must be durable and able to handle extreme weather conditions, including intense sunlight, high winds, hail, and freezing temperatures mixed with ice and snow. All work must tolerate direct sunlight/sun exposure; individual pieces that may fade will not be considered. Artists may submit work that is completed and available for installation April 10-12, 2023.

Selected artists will receive a stipend of $1,000 per piece after delivery and installation. The City of Longmont will be responsible for physical and financial installation. The artist is responsible for completing a City contract, submitting installation plans prior to scheduling delivery, providing specialty hardware, and transporting the artwork for installation and de-installation. The City will not store packaging through the duration of the loan. Submissions must include up to three images per piece, letter of interest/artist statement (400 words maximum), resume or CV, annotated image list with title, year, medium/materials, dimensions, current location, value, approximate weight, and availability date. Installation dimensions, preferred installation method, packaging dimensions, equipment requirements, and complete contact information must also be included. Submissions accepted exclusively through callforentry.org.
