Art in Public Places

Palmer Lake Arts Council invites artists to submit sculpture for Art in Public Places, a public art exhibition in Palmer Lake, Colorado. Palmer Lake is located at 7,300 feet altitude in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains between Denver and Colorado Springs. Established in 1886, the town borders the national forest, ranch lands, and the ancestral lands of many Native American groups.

Artists are encouraged to create work inspired by local values and themes including conceptual creativity and whimsical designs; local history, geography, mountains, and outdoors; Native American presence; Palmer Lake Star and Yule Log tradition; historic Chautauqua presence; wild columbine flower and nature; library, literacy, and education; and local animals such as fish, beaver, black bear, mountain lion, deer, elk, bobcat, ring-tailed cats, fox, coyotes, raccoon, and birds.

Submissions must include 3-5 JPGs of sculpture, a concept/artist statement, purchase price, and physical description (width, height, weight, construction materials, and mount specifications). Selected sculptures must be installed in May and remain for 12 months. Work must be maintenance-free, safe for all ages and the community, and available for sale. Sculptures will be mounted on a welded 16x16 inch embedded steel plate. Entry deadline is March 8, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Jury dates are March 9-13, 2026.
