Art in Public Buildings - Student Services and University Center

Laramie County Community College (LCCC) is seeking 3 sculptural works for the new Student Services and University Center building, scheduled for completion in spring 2017. The selection includes one sculpture for the south/public entrance, one for the north/student entrance or quad area, and one sculptural piece for the interior of the building. Artists may submit proposals for one sculpture, all, or a combination, and are welcome to suggest specific sites based on the site plan.

The selection committee is particularly interested in work that expresses the new phase and forward direction of the college, represents LCCC identity, reflects the building's purpose, or expresses students' paths at the college. All styles, conceptual approaches, and mediums are encouraged, including traditional, contemporary, abstract, or western work. Kinetic or mobile approaches are encouraged for the interior piece. New media and video work is welcome. Work can be existing or created for the site. Proposed artwork must be durable, structurally sound, secure, site appropriate, and easy to maintain.

Up to $90,000 is available for artwork, including all design fees, material costs, labor for fabrication and installation, identification label or plaque, and all necessary costs for planning, completion, delivery, and installation. A separate amount is available for maquette development and travel to site for presentation if necessary. Initial application materials are due December 31, 2015. The selection committee will review proposals in January 2016, and select artists will be asked to submit complete formal design presentations in February 2016 with modest financial compensation provided. Final presentations will take place in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with a decision expected by March 2016.
