About This Call
The Wyoming Arts Council is seeking artwork for a new construction project at the Wyoming Girls' School campus. The new Stolt Hall will include technical learning facilities, a pottery studio, administration offices, gymnasium, weight room, cardio room, tele-health room, and additional classrooms. The facility serves approximately 25 students ranging in age from 12 to 21 years old.
The selection committee has identified three potential locations for artwork: a 23-foot clerestory spanning the central hall, a large interior wall across from the library space, and an exterior location outside the library with visibility from public areas. Artists should consider themes of female empowerment and the feminine experience, with the girls and their support systems as the priority audience. Emphasis on light and shadow is encouraged. Artwork should be powerful, serene/calming, nurturing, uplifting, inspiring, safe/secure, and represent change/improvement. Representational sculptures, installations, and visually expansive/connected works are of particular interest. Safety considerations include minimal to no protrusions within reach of viewers, no sharp edges, and not climbable structures.
The total project budget for artwork, installation, and artist stipend is $90,000. Submissions are due July 9, 2025 via CaFÉ and must include 1-10 images and up to 2 videos. Selected finalists will be invited to submit complete formal design proposals including budget, timeline, and renderings. The selection committee will review submissions in July 2025, with in-person or video presentations potentially scheduled for early fall 2025. Construction is underway with scheduled occupancy for late fall/early winter 2026. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents, minimum 18 years of age, demonstrate previous artistic experience, be willing to meet project deadlines, work closely with project managers, and travel for presentations if selected. Final artwork becomes the property of the Wyoming State Museum, though artists retain copyright.
