About This Call
Request for Qualifications for interior artwork at the Surbrugg Prentice Auditorium (SPA) on the Laramie County Community College (LCCC) campus. Submissions are due July 27, 2020 via CaFÉ. Artists should submit required documents and images demonstrating their interest and expertise. The committee will evaluate the quality of the artist's portfolio, cover letter addressing the project, and experience with public art processes and collaboration with architects and facility managers. Selected artists will be invited to submit complete formal design proposals including budget, timeline, and references.
The SPA is a 400-seat auditorium (reducible to 250 seats) with an acoustic shell and direct audience access to the stage. The facility will host lectures, graduation ceremonies, artist talks, and traveling theatre, dance, and music groups. The committee seeks interior artwork including 2D work, wall-mounted relief, site-specific installations, murals, or small sculptures for the lobby area and main public entrance. Work should reflect the SPA, Fine Arts Building programs, LCCC campus, and broader Cheyenne community, representing diversity of arts and humanities. All styles, genres, and mediums are considered. Artwork must be durable, structurally sound, secure, site-appropriate, and easy to maintain. Artists willing to work with students during creation and installation or provide public talks are particularly encouraged.
Total project budget available is $63,000.00, which may be allocated for multiple artists or locations. The committee will review submissions in August 2020 and make selections by September 2020. Finalists will receive modest financial compensation for design proposals and presentations. A specific timeline for development, production, and installation will be established upon selection. For images and plans, visit the Arts Council website.
