About This Call
This is an updated RFQ for public art at the new Agriculture and Animal Science Center at Central Wyoming College. The 86,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building will house programs in Agriculture, Crop and Soil Sciences, Equine Studies, and Farrier Science, as well as the CWC Rodeo team and a meat processing program. The facility includes two indoor arenas, offices, classrooms, lab space, a forge, and a boarding facility for horses. Outdoor facilities will include barns, corrals, and an outdoor arena.
The committee seeks functional work for the exterior that creates a communal gathering space for students, such as lighting, seating, or bike racks. Work should highlight the programs housed in the building and celebrate their growth. All styles, genres, conceptual approaches, and mediums will be considered. Artwork must be durable, structurally sound, secure, site appropriate, easy to maintain, and able to withstand Wyoming's climate including high winds, drastic temperature changes, and intense sun. The total project budget available for artwork is $82,594.00, which includes all design, material, fabrication, installation, and planning costs.
This is a national call with preference given to Wyoming artists. Selected artists will be asked to submit complete formal design proposals in January 2022, with selection by February 2022. Installation should be completed by December 2022. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents, minimum 18 years of age, demonstrate previous experience through portfolio submission, be willing to meet project deadlines, and be willing to travel for presentations if selected as a finalist. Final artwork becomes the property of the Wyoming State Museum, though artists retain copyright.
