About This Call

Request for Qualifications for public art at the new Central Wyoming College Agriculture and Animal Science Center. Submissions are due November 15, 2019 via CaFÉ. Artists should submit required documents and images demonstrating their interest and expertise. The selection committee will evaluate the quality of the artist's portfolio, cover letter addressing the project, and experience with public art processes and collaboration with architects and facility managers.

The new Agriculture and Animal Science Center will house programs in Agriculture, Crop and Soil Sciences, Equine Studies, and Farrier Science, as well as the CWC Rodeo team and a meat processing program. The 86,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building features a neutral beige or tan color with a green metal roof. The facility includes two indoor arenas (one with 300-seat capacity), offices, classrooms, lab space, a forge, meat processing area, animal health unit, and horse boarding facilities. Outdoor facilities include barns, corrals, and an outdoor arena.

The committee seeks artwork for the exterior by the main entrance that helps define the building and its programs, visually guiding people toward the entrance. Work may be monumental or multiple pieces, and functional sculptural work such as seating or bike racks is welcome. All styles, genres, and mediums will be considered. Artwork must be durable, structurally sound, secure, site appropriate, and easy to maintain. The total project budget is $90,000, which may be allocated for multiple artists or one piece. This is a national call with preference given to Wyoming artists. Select artists will be invited to submit complete formal design proposals including budget, timeline, and references. The selection committee will review submissions in December 2019, with final decisions by April 2020. For questions, contact Rachel Clifton at the Wyoming Arts Council, 307-256-0500 or [email protected].
