About This Call
The Wyoming Arts Council is seeking artwork for the expanded Central Wyoming College Jackson Center. The selection committee has identified the clerestory as the location for artwork, positioned above the main hallway of the facility which includes thirty foot ceilings. The clerestory spans the distance of this main hall and will operate as an opaque skylight offering diffused light into the space.
The committee is specifically interested in procuring a work of art that will be suspended in the clerestory. Sculptures, projection/light works, creative use of materials, and visually expansive works are of particular interest, though all possibilities for the space are welcome. Due to the modest budget of this project, the committee is specifically interested in pieces that may have a small physical footprint but large impact utilizing light and shadow or that use recycled/upcycled materials in an impactful manner. Proposed artwork, design elements, or finishes should not conflict with materials being used in the project. Finish boards will be provided to selected finalists to inform their work.
The total project budget available for artwork is $22,370.00. Submissions are due July 31, 2025 via CaFÉ and must include 1-10 images and up to 2 videos. The selection committee will review submissions in August 2025, and selected artists will be invited to submit a complete formal design proposal in September 2025. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents, at least 18 years old, and full-time residents of Wyoming, Idaho, or Montana. Applicants must demonstrate previous artistic experience through a portfolio submission, be willing to meet project deadlines, and demonstrate ability to work closely with project managers. If selected, applicants must be willing to travel for presentations and will sign a contract with the State of Wyoming. Final artwork becomes the property of the Wyoming State Museum, though artists retain copyright.
