About This Call
Laramie County Community College (LCCC) is seeking outdoor and interior artwork for the new Flexible Industrial Technology building, a 46,000 square foot facility anticipated to open in fall 2016. The building features a horseshoe shape with a courtyard, large exterior wall spaces visible from the main road, and a 2nd floor hallway visible from outside. Artists are welcome to propose work for the courtyard (sculpture), exterior walls, and/or interior hallway, and may suggest specific sites based on the site plan.
The selection committee is particularly interested in work that pays respect to tradespeople and the history and importance of trades in Wyoming. Artwork should merge the practical aspects of trades with high-tech career elements, connect to the innovative building design, and inspire students to pursue trade careers. All styles, mediums, and conceptual approaches are encouraged, including new media, video, kinetic, and mobile work. Work can be existing or created for the site. All proposed artwork must be durable, structurally sound, secure, site appropriate, and easy to maintain.
Up to $63,659 is available for artwork, including design fees, material costs, labor, installation, identification plaques, and all planning and delivery expenses. A separate amount is available for maquette development and travel to site for presentation if necessary. Initial application materials are due December 31, 2015. Selected artists will be asked to submit complete formal design presentations in February 2016, with modest financial compensation provided. Final selections will be made by March 2016. For project information, specifications, plans, and dimensions, contact Rachel Clifton at [email protected] or 307-777-5305.
