Art From the Heartland 2012

Art from the Heartland is a biennial juried exhibition open to all artists over the age of 18 residing in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky. Work must be made within the last two years and cannot have been previously shown at the Art Center. All work must be original and made by the artist or artist team; collaborative works are eligible.

Entry fee is $25 for the submission of two pieces. Each artist may submit up to two pieces of work for jurying, with one detail shot of each piece allowed, bringing the maximum number of images to four (two overall images and two detail shots). All media is eligible; installation artists should contact the Art Center before applying. 2D artwork must not weigh more than 250 pounds or be bigger than 10' x 10'. Video artists should submit still images and mail a copy of the DVD, which must be received by the March 1, 2012 deadline.

Awards chosen by juror Paula Katz, Director and Curator of Herron Galleries: Best in Show ($1,000), Best in 2D including video ($500), Best in 3D including installation ($500), and 5 Honorable Mentions ($100 each). The Indianapolis Art Center's Director of Exhibitions also awards a Director's Choice Award for a solo exhibition at the Art Center. Awards will be announced at the Opening Reception on April 20, 2012. Accepted work must remain on display until June 10, 2012. All work may be offered for sale; the Art Center retains a 35% commission on sales. Artwork must arrive by April 16, 2012 by 6 p.m. and must be picked up between June 10 and July 1, 2012. The Art Center will insure the exhibition while on view.
