Art From Detritus: 2023

Viridian Artists presents Art From Detritus, a juried and curated exhibition focused on artwork created from recycled and discarded materials. The exhibition will be juried and curated by Vernita Nemec, Executive Director of Exhibitions at Viridian Artists and an artist and curator who has been creating exhibitions of Art from Detritus for over a decade.

All artwork must be made from primarily recycled material that would usually be thrown away and added to landfills. The exhibition will consist of two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks in all media. Size limitations for wall-hung work are 60 inches high by 40 inches wide (including frame). Free-standing work may not exceed 30 inches wide by 30 inches deep by 60 inches high. Modular work or installations may be larger. All accepted 2D work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging, with plexiglass preferred over glass. Sculptors may be required to supply pedestals where necessary. Complex installations may require the presence of the artist. Full-time students are not eligible.

The exhibition runs March 28–April 22, 2023, with an opening reception on Thursday, March 30, 6-8pm. Entry fee is $45.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee per image. Applicants must submit 3-20 images. Sales will be encouraged, with the gallery taking a 20% commission.
