About This Call
Art Forward Contests invites painters and photographers, 18 and older at any career level, working anywhere in the world to submit work for Contest 2 Summer 2015. The theme is "My Art—My Vision," which challenges artists to reveal the essence of their work without excluding any subject matter.
Eligible work includes contemporary art created during and after 2000 in painting (including collage and mixed-media techniques) and photography (including black-and-white, color, digital, film, and various printing processes). There are no size restrictions on original artwork. Submissions require 3-13 JPEG images at minimum 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and maximum 5 MB file size. Basic submission of 3 images costs $35; additional images up to 10 cost $5 per image.
Jurors include Jack Mohr (Director of Artamo Gallery, Santa Barbara) for painting and Crista Dix (Director of Wall-Space Gallery, Santa Barbara) in collaboration with Art Forward Contests founders Stuart Ochiltree and Henry Rasmussen. A total of 32 winners will be selected: two Gold Awards (one painting, one photography), six Silver Awards (three in each discipline), and 24 Bronze Awards (12 in each discipline). Gold Award winners receive a full-page ad in Art Ltd. magazine, invitation to exhibit in California galleries during September, a shared $1,000 cash award, and permanent placement in the Art Forward Online Winners Gallery. Silver and Bronze Award winners receive listings in Art Ltd. magazine, email announcements to 90,000 subscribers, and permanent gallery placement. Work must be original with artist retaining copyright. Submission fee is non-refundable. Artists selected for gallery exhibition are responsible for shipping and insurance.
