Art for Horses

The 3rd Annual Art for Horses is a juried fundraising art show presented by the Horse Protection League at the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Parkway, Lakewood, CO 80226. The exhibition runs Saturday, August 22 through Friday, September 18, 2015 (Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Sat 10:00am-2:00pm), with an opening reception on Friday, August 21, 2015, 6:00-9:00pm.

The show features fine art with western or equine subject matter, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, etchings, monotypes, photography, and mixed media. Artists may submit 1-5 pieces for consideration. Eligibility requirements include: artists must be over age 18, artwork must be original and executed professionally, and all work must be priced and ready for display and sale. Archival quality reproductions (giclee prints) are acceptable. Three-dimensional works cannot weigh over 200 lbs. Entry fee is $35 for 1-5 entries, with a June 19, 2015 deadline.

Jurors include Allan Duerr (Co Publisher of Art of the West magazine), Janene DiRico-Cable (Award Winning Artist), and Ray Mark Rinaldi (Fine Arts Journalist of The Denver Post). Prizes include Best of Show ($500), 1st Place ($300), 2nd Place ($200), and three Juror's Choice awards (one per juror). Accepted artwork must be delivered to the Lakewood Cultural Center on Monday, August 17 or Tuesday, August 18, 2015 (8:00am-4:00pm). The Horse Protection League retains 40% of artwork sales, with artists retaining 60%. Unsold work must be picked up on Monday, September 21 or Tuesday, September 22, 2015 (8:00am-4:00pm).
