About This Call
The Broomfield Public Art Committee seeks artists to participate in two distinct interior wall installations—one for the 1STBANK Center and one for the Broomfield Library. Both installations are intended to welcome, engage and invite visitors into the respective buildings. Each artwork installation should draw attention to the corridor, enliven the area, and enhance the experience for patrons.
Artists selected agree to loan their artwork for two years beginning December 4, 2017 and ending December 2, 2019. Installation dates may be negotiated if more preparation time is required. The artist stipend for each project is $2,000, with a 20% commission on artwork sales. Artists are responsible for transporting the artwork to and from the designated location and arranging installation. All entries must be ready for installation and meet appropriate gallery quality standards. The wall installation should be safe for interaction with the public, especially children. Fragile, vulnerable or inappropriate work will not be considered. Insurance is required during installation.
Submissions must include a minimum of 3 images and a maximum of 15 (different angles). Artists should indicate which space is appropriate for their artwork using the category feature. The 1STBANK Center wall is located on the first floor main concourse, east of the main entrance, with a terra cotta painted sheetrock and concrete block surface. The Broomfield Library wall is located on the first floor lobby at the library interior entrance, 4' 8" high and 40" from the ground, with a curved surface. The Public Art Committee will select artwork based on artistic excellence, timelessness, site compatibility, design elements, permanence and safety, and diversity. Applications are due by August 2, 2017 at midnight through CAFE at https://www.callforentry.org. Artists will be selected at the Public Art Committee Meeting on September 13, 2017, with all artists notified in October.
