About This Call

The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) is accepting applications for the 68th annual Art Fair on the Square, to be held July 11 and 12, 2026. As one of Madison, Wisconsin's most highly anticipated annual events, Art Fair on the Square brings nearly 200,000 visitors from across the region to Wisconsin's beautiful Capitol Concourse. The fair is amongst the largest art fairs in the Midwest and has been rated as one of the top fine art shows by artists from across the country. It serves as MMoCA's most important annual fundraiser, providing crucial support for exhibitions, art education, and programming.

In 2025, over 75% of artists reported average sales of $4,700 or more per booth, with total artists' sales estimated at $4.1 million. Applications open November 14th, 2025 with an early bird jury fee of $40 until February 28, 2026, and a late fee of $50 from March 1-2, 2026. Artists must submit four images - three representative of their work and one booth shot. Single booth space fee is $710, double booth space fee is $1,345, and emerging artist booth space fee is $375.

Best of Show awards will be given in each of the 14 media categories, with winners invited to return to the 2027 fair with waived jury and booth fees. Up to 65 Invitational awards will also be given. The fair features an Emerging Artist Block to support early career artists with little or no art fair experience. Booth spaces measure approximately 11 feet wide by 8 feet deep with an additional two feet on the raised curb. Artists may cancel with partial refund (minus $100 fee) until April 24, 2026.
