About This Call
The City of Florence invites emerging, mid-career, and established artists to submit work to Art Exposed, a rotating outdoor art gallery in Florence's Old Town district. Selected artists will display their work throughout the Old Town for a two-year period, with the opportunity to reach over one million annual visitors to the area's restaurants, galleries, and shops along the Siuslaw River.
Eight locations within the Old Town district have been selected for art installation. Artists may submit one entry per location (up to eight pieces total), with a $25 entry fee per submission. Each selected artist receives a $1,500 stipend. Artwork must be available for sale to the public during the two-year display period, with the City of Florence retaining 30% of sale proceeds. If artwork is purchased, the artist has the opportunity to replace it with a new piece approved by the Public Art Committee. Installation is scheduled for October 2022.
Artwork must be original design, suitable for all ages, and able to withstand coastal weather conditions including wind and seasonal rain. Maximum weight is 500 pounds. All artwork must include a 36-inch diameter plate on the bottom with four 1-inch diameter bolt holes to accommodate 3/4-inch bolts on 22-inch spacing for attachment to the City-provided base. Work-in-progress must be at least 75% completed; mock-ups, models, drawings, or concepts are not accepted. Artists must be 18 years or older. For Location #1 (Veterans Memorial Park), preference is given to artists who have served in the American Military or whose work honors American military veterans. All costs for transporting artwork to Florence are the artist's responsibility. The application deadline is July 15, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
