Art Exposed ReVision Florence

The City of Florence invites emerging, mid-career, and established artists to submit work to Art Exposed, a rotating outdoor art gallery. Artists are offered the opportunity to display their work on a 0.7-mile stretch of Highway 101 called ReVision Florence for a two-year period. Six locations have been selected by the Public Arts Committee, located on Highway 101 between the Siuslaw River Bridge and the Highway 126 intersection. Florence hosts over one million visitors annually, and the busy Oregon Coast Highway leads people to popular restaurants, galleries, and shops throughout the area.

Selected artists will receive a $1,500 stipend to provide their work for up to two years from the installation date in April 2024. During the two-year period, artwork will be offered for sale to locals and visitors, with the City of Florence retaining 30% of sale proceeds to support the Public Arts Program. If artwork is purchased before the two-year contract ends, the artist has the first opportunity to replace it with a new piece approved by the Public Arts Committee. The City provides bases for installation and Public Works support. All transportation costs are the artist's responsibility.

Artwork must be original design, suitable for all ages, and able to withstand coastal weather conditions including wind, seasonal rain, theft, and vandalism. Maximum weight is 500 pounds unless approved by the City. Artists must submit 2-6 images and up to 2 videos of completed work from multiple angles. Work-in-progress must be at least 75% complete. Artists may submit one entry per location with a $25 entry fee per submission. The application deadline is December 15, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Selected artists will be notified in February 2024, with installation scheduled for April 2024.
