Art Exposed - Old Town Florence Public Art Program

The City of Florence invites emerging, mid-career, and established artists to submit work to Art Exposed, a rotating outdoor art gallery located along Bay Street in Old Town Florence. Selected artwork will be on display for a two-year period, starting in May 2020. The Public Art Committee has selected five high-visibility locations in Old Town for this program, which aims to generate community pride, provide artists with visibility, and benefit the community with quality public art while encouraging economic development and tourism.

Artists must submit 2-12 work samples (2-8 images and 0-4 videos). The $25 entry fee covers submission for one location; artists may submit to multiple locations. All artwork must be original, suitable for viewing by all ages, and available for sale to the public. Artwork can be of any medium but must withstand coastal conditions and resist theft and vandalism. Weight limits vary by location: 1,000 pounds maximum for most locations, 500 pounds for the Rain Garden location. Specific height and width requirements apply to each of the five locations. Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend for installation, and the City of Florence will collect a 30% commission on any artwork sold. Artists must be 18 years or older and are responsible for transporting artwork to Florence and working with the City on installation. The submission deadline is January 24, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time.
