About This Call
ArtCenter houses 38 partially-subsidized workspaces for visual artists working in most mediums. Studios range from 175 to 900 square feet, with monthly rents averaging $280-600 based on $9.00 per square foot annually, plus common area fees, energy surcharges, and 7% sales tax.
Residents receive 24-hour building access, Wi-Fi, access to the PRINTshop and Common Workspace, and participation in monthly Studio Crawls. Residencies last 6 months to 2 years, with opportunities to exhibit in window exhibition spaces and teach in ArtCenter's ARTstudies programs for those with previous teaching experience. Residents join the ArtCenter Alumni Network and work alongside up to 41 on-site artists including visiting artists.
Eligibility: Working, professional artists with deep commitment to their practice; artists based in the US and abroad; artists not currently enrolled in academic programs. Alumni are eligible but priority is given to artists without previous studio residency at ArtCenter. Selection is based on merit of past work, readiness to engage with the program, and potential to develop innovative creative practice and impact the community. A 5-member Artist Review Committee reviews applications and selects finalists for 30-minute interviews (in-person, phone, or videoconference). Application requires artist statement, CV/resume, three references, 8-10 images of recent work (or video/audio if more suitable), and a $40 processing fee.
