About This Call
Art Around the Clock is a two-year outdoor sculpture temporary installation program in Redmond, Oregon. Selected artists will receive a $750 stipend and assistance with installation and take-down. At the end of the two-year period, one work will be chosen for purchase by the City of Redmond. If a work sells, the City of Redmond/RCAPP will take a 20% commission of the sales price. The artwork must remain in place until the end of the two-year installation period unless renegotiated by RCAPP and accepted by all parties.
Artists may submit up to three individual artworks, with only one potentially selected for installation. Each submission requires a separate entry form with two digital images from different angles. The call is limited to 250 applications. Concrete pedestals have been installed throughout the downtown core, with additional installations at Redmond Roberts Field Airport and the Redmond Fire and Rescue District Headquarters.
The City of Redmond has supported a public art program since 2006. The Art Around the Clock program, initiated in 2011, aims to build a permanent art collection while providing marketing opportunities for artists and creating a sense of identity and culture for the community. Marketing is provided through the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, Redmond Airport, and local media outlets. Installation is scheduled by July 1, 2017, with finalist notification on January 31, 2017.
