About This Call

The Redmond Commission for Art in Public Places (RCAPP) invites artists or artist teams to submit proposals for the eighth round of the City of Redmond's rotating outdoor sculpture gallery program, Art Around the Clock. This program introduces original art into Redmond, creating a unique sense of place and enhancing community identity. Selected sculptures will be installed outdoors on concrete and metal pedestals for a two-year exhibition period (July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2027), during which pieces are prominently displayed throughout town and marketed as available for purchase.

Selected applicants receive a stipend of $1,000 per piece ($750 at installation, $250 at removal). At the end of the exhibition period, each piece is eligible for participation in the People's Choice contest in which the community votes to decide their favorite piece. The piece with the most votes receives $10,000 in exchange for the artwork. RCAPP will select thirteen finalists and two alternates based on overall strength of design concept (75 points) and sustainability and durability of the design (25 points).

Applications are due March 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Applicants may submit up to 3 applications and must provide 2-10 work sample images. Applications must include contact information, artist description, statement of interest, statement of qualifications (if proposing an incomplete piece), written description of the piece with narrative and composition/durability/maintenance details, fair market value, and visual representations with dimensions and at least two perspectives. Applicants may be individual artists or artist teams but cannot be current RCAPP commissioners or City of Redmond employees. For more information, contact Morgan Snyder at [email protected] or 541-504-3062.
