Art Around Avon 2022

The Town of Avon, Colorado requests proposals from multiple artists for the Art Around Avon Program to promote the display of visual art throughout the community. The program aims to select up to twenty-six (26) visual art pieces for installation in pre-determined outdoor spaces in early June 2022. Selected artists will be paid a $900 stipend per piece, except for the artist selected for location #1 (the "Town Center" at Avon Road round-about #4), which carries a $2,000 stipend. Selected work will be on exhibition in outdoor locations for up to twelve (12) months, during which time artists may make their work available for sale. The Town will retain 20% of the gross sale price of any work sold during the exhibition period.

Eligibility is open to all artists and artist teams residing and working in Colorado who are 18 years of age or older with necessary documentation to work in the United States. Applicants must be able to complete and transport work on June 8th, 9th, or 10th, 2022, and pick up work between May 29th and June 5th, 2023. Artists may submit up to six (6) applications, with each application including 2-5 digital images per proposed piece, a project statement, and three (3) relevant project references with contact information, scope, budget, timeline, and location details. Reference work imagery must include 1-3 digital images per referenced work.

Work must be safe for pedestrians, of appropriate scale for street display, able to withstand high winds and substantial temperature changes, easy to maintain in an outdoor mountain environment, and freestanding but attachable to provided pedestals. Location #1 requires work to be a minimum of 12' tall and maximum of 20' tall on a 13' diameter concrete circular pedestal. Exhibition runs from June 10, 2022 through May 29, 2023, with decommission and removal between May 29-31, 2023. Selection notification is anticipated for April 29, 2022.
