Art Around Avon

The Town of Avon requests proposals from multiple artists for the Art Around Avon Program to promote the display of visual sculpture art throughout the Town of Avon community. The program aims to select up to nine (9) visual art pieces for installation in pre-determined outdoor spaces in early June 2021. Selected artists will receive a $900 stipend per piece and may make their work available for sale during exhibition. The Town will retain 20% of the gross sale price of selected artwork. The work will be on exhibition in outdoor locations for up to twelve (12) months.

Installation sites include various visible outdoor locations in highly trafficked areas along main roadways, Main Street Mall, Nottingham Park, and playgrounds. The Town provides ground level bases, platforms, or raised pedestals made of brick pavers, sandstone, reinforced concrete, or cut stone. Location #1 on Avon Road at the round-about #4 (conjunction of E. Benchmark Road and W. Benchmark Road) is designated as the "Town Center" and requires a larger, more prominent work visible from across Avon Road.

Eligibility is open to all artists and artist teams residing and working in Colorado who are 18 years of age or older with necessary documentation and permits to work in the United States. Applicants must complete and transport work before June 1, 2021, and pick up work before June 6, 2022. Work must be safe for pedestrians, of appropriate scale for street display, able to withstand high winds and substantial temperature changes, easy to maintain in an outdoor mountain environment, and freestanding but attachable to provided pedestals or bases. Applications require 1 to 5 digital images of proposed work, a project statement describing approach and intention, special display and installation requirements, and three (3) relevant project references with contact information, scope, budget, timeline, location, and 3 to 8 digital images per reference. Selected artists must execute the Art Around Avon Agreement. Installation occurs June 1-2, 2021, with exhibition running through May 23, 2022.
