Art and Poetic Text

This exhibition celebrates Poetry Month with a focus on the symbiosis of poetry and art. Artists are invited to explore how words and art can come together in multi-layered ways—through sewn text in fiber work, etched stanzas in sculpture, poetry transfers in ink painting, embossed text in metal, hidden poems within drawings, or other creative combinations. All styles and aesthetics are considered.

The show runs April 11–29, 2023, with an opening event on Friday, April 14 from 5–7pm. Entry fee is $25 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry, with a maximum of 20 entries per artist. JPEGs must be submitted by March 20, 2023, and artists will be notified of acceptance by March 25, 2023. Work must have been produced within the last five years and be appropriate for all viewers. The juror will award a Juror's Choice prize of $250 cash.

Work can be delivered locally on April 10, 2023, or shipped to arrive by April 7, 2023. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels. Framed work must be fitted firmly in frame with wire for hanging; gallery wrapped canvases are permitted. All images must be submitted in JPEG format at 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, with a maximum file size of 5mb. The Cultural Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional.
