Art Ability 2017 at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital

Art Ability is an international juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts by artists with disabilities, running November 4, 2017 through January 28, 2018 at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

Eligibility is open to artists with physical, cognitive, visual, and hearing disabilities. Only work created after the onset of a disability or injury is eligible. All works must be for sale and created within the last 5 years. Previously exhibited Art Ability works are not eligible. Acceptable media include works on paper, canvas or board, photography, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, and fine crafts. No dimension should be less than 13" or more than 48" framed, and pieces cannot exceed 25 lbs. All two-dimensional works must be framed with plexiglas instead of glass. Reproduction prints are not accepted.

Artists earn 80% of sales during the 12-week exhibition, with unsold works returned afterward. More than $7,000 in prizes will be awarded, with individual prizes up to $1,000 available in each media category. Artists whose work is accepted will be notified in August 2017 and may ship work at Art Ability's expense or deliver personally by appointment. Applicants must submit up to six JPEG images of their work through the CaFE system at www.callforentry.org, along with an artist biography describing their work, disability, and the role art has played in their life. There is no entry fee for online submissions. Mail-in submissions on CD are accepted with a $20 processing fee. The submission deadline is July 31, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
