About This Call
The 21st Annual Art Ability Exhibition and Sale is an international, juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts featuring work by artists with physical, cognitive, hearing and visual disabilities. The exhibition is on display from November 6, 2016 through January 29, 2017 at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital in Malvern, PA, with a preview reception on November 5.
Eligibility is open to artists with physical, cognitive, visual and hearing disabilities. Only work executed after the onset of a disability or injury is eligible. All works must be for sale and cannot have been previously exhibited in Art Ability. Acceptable media includes works on paper, canvas or board, photography, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry and fine crafts. No dimension should be less than 13" or more than 48" framed, and each piece cannot exceed 25lbs in weight. All works must be sent ready for display with appropriate framing and hanging hardware for two-dimensional pieces. Framed works require plexiglas instead of glass. Reproduction prints will not be accepted.
Artists earn 80% of sales during the 12-week exhibition. Unsold works are returned after the exhibit closes. More than $7,000 in prizes will be awarded, with all accepted work eligible for prizes up to $1,000. Artists will be notified of preliminary acceptance in August 2016. Shipping costs to and from the exhibition are covered. There is no entry fee. Submit up to six JPEG images through CaFE, along with title, medium, size, year completed, and price for each work. An artist biography and CV or resumé in Microsoft Word or PDF format are also required, including a description of your disability and how it impacts your art.
