About This Call
The 20th Annual Art Ability Exhibition and Sale is an international, juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts featuring work by artists with physical, cognitive, hearing, and visual disabilities. The exhibition runs from November 8, 2015 through January 31, 2016 at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital in Malvern, PA, with a preview reception on November 7.
Eligibility is open to artists with physical, cognitive, visual, and hearing disabilities. Only work executed after the onset of a disability or injury is eligible. All works must be for sale and cannot have been previously exhibited in Art Ability. Acceptable media includes works on paper, canvas or board, photography, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, and fine crafts. Dimensions must be between 13" and 48" when framed, with a maximum weight of 25 lbs. All works must be sent ready for display; two-dimensional pieces require appropriate framing and hanging hardware with plexiglas instead of glass. Reproduction prints are not accepted.
Artists earn 80% of sales during the 12-week exhibition. Unsold works are returned after the exhibit closes. Artists may be invited to participate in Art Ability's ongoing sales and exhibitions programs, earning 60% of the value for works sold through those programs. All payments are made by check in US dollars after the exhibit closes. Distinguished members of the greater Philadelphia arts community will jury the work, with more than $7,000 in prizes awarded across media categories. All accepted work is eligible for prizes up to $1,000. Artists will be notified of preliminary acceptance in August 2015. Shipping costs to and from the exhibition are covered by Art Ability. Submit up to six works through CaFE with one JPEG image per work. There is no entry fee.
