About This Call

Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital's Art Ability is an international, juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts that features work by artists with physical, cognitive, hearing and visual disabilities. The 2011-2012 Annual Art Ability Exhibit and Sale is on display from November 5, 2011 through January 15, 2012 at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital in Malvern, PA.

Open to artists with physical, cognitive, visual and hearing disabilities. Only work executed after the onset of disability or injury is eligible. All works must be for sale. Art previously exhibited in Art Ability is not eligible for submission. Reproduction prints will not be accepted. Artists must state their disability and provide a selling price that reflects framed artwork. All media are eligible including works on paper, paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, pottery, fiber arts and other fine crafts. Submit 1-6 images of your work.

Initial review of submissions will be conducted by the Art Ability committee and exhibition curator. Artists accepted during this stage will be asked to send actual work, which will be juried by distinguished members of the greater Philadelphia arts community. Judges award prizes in several artistic categories, with over $7,000 awarded in prize money. This year's judges include Ingrid Schaffner (Senior Curator, Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania), Teresa Jaynes (Executive Director, Philagrafika), and John Ollman (Owner, Fleisher/Ollman Gallery). Artwork must not exceed 48" overall height, and sculpture weighing more than 25 lbs will not be accepted. Shipping costs to and from the exhibit are covered by the organization. Contact [email protected] for an image prep tip sheet.
