About This Call
The City of Aurora Art in Public Places Program and The Havana Business Improvement District are seeking outdoor sculpture for exhibition on Havana Street for one year, with installation scheduled for early October 2015. This is the fifth year of the sculpture exhibition and competition.
Eligibility is regional for artists from Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Kansas, and Nebraska. Sculptures must be three-dimensional freestanding works of any medium suitable for outdoor placement, between 4' and 14' tall, weighing between 100 and 4,000 lbs. Artwork must be durable, require little maintenance, be graffiti resistant, withstand Colorado weather conditions, and have no sharp objects or edges for public safety. Artists must transport and install their own artwork and submit an installation plan with drawings and any necessary engineering details. All sculptures must be attached to a steel plate bolted to a concrete base unless other design considerations are more appropriate.
Exhibiting artists will receive a $1,000 stipend for transportation and installation. Sculptures may be purchased for the City's public art collection. The Havana Business Improvement District is providing cash awards: People's Choice $1,000, 1st Place $750, 2nd Place $500, and 3rd Place $250. Submissions must include a professional resume (limit three pages), minimum two digital images per sculpture (front and back), and an image list with title, media, dimensions, weight, height, and sale price. Applications are submitted through CAFE at www.callforentry.org. Contact Mary Allman-Koernig, Public Art Coordinator, at 303-739-6747 or [email protected] for questions.
