About This Call
The City of Aurora Art in Public Places Program and The Havana Business Improvement District are seeking outdoor sculpture for exhibition on Havana Street for one year, with installation scheduled for early October 2014. This is the fourth year of the sculpture exhibition and competition, part of a collaboration to attract visitors, energize streetscapes, and create public gathering places.
Sculpture Requirements: Three-dimensional freestanding sculpture of any medium suitable for outdoor placement. Minimum 4 feet tall and 100 lbs.; maximum 14 feet tall and 4,000 lbs. Artwork must be durable, require little maintenance, be graffiti resistant, and able to withstand Colorado weather conditions. For public safety, artwork should not have sharp objects or edges. All sculptures must be attached to a steel plate bolted to a concrete base, unless other design considerations are more appropriate.
Artist Compensation: Exhibiting artists will receive a $1,000 stipend for transportation and installation. Sculptures may be purchased for the City's public art collection. Cash awards are provided by the Havana Business Improvement District: People's Choice $1,000, 1st Place $750, 2nd Place $500, 3rd Place $250.
Submission Requirements: Submit through CAFE at www.callforentry.org. Applicants may submit up to two sculptures. For each sculpture, submit a minimum of two digital images (front and back), professional resume (limit three pages), and image list with title, media, dimensions, weight, height, and sale price. Deadline: Sunday, July 6, 2014 at midnight. For questions, contact Mary Allman-Koernig, Public Art Coordinator, at 303-739-6747 or [email protected].
