Arrow Five Years Out Art Challenge 2017

Arrow Electronics and the Cherry Creek Arts Festival present the Arrow Five Years Out Art Challenge, inviting artists from all disciplines worldwide to explore the notion of innovation through their medium. Painters, glass blowers, wood turners, new media creators, digital artists, and artists working in any media are encouraged to apply. The challenge seeks authentic artistic representations of innovation and how that translates into individual artistic expression.

Seven individual artist commissions of $5,000 each are available to create artwork for the challenge. Each of the seven commissioned artists is eligible to win an additional $10,000 grand prize and a jury-exempt invitation to exhibit at the 2018 Cherry Creek Arts Festival. The seven commissioned artworks will become part of Arrow's innovative collection and may be featured in a global advertising series and locations worldwide.

Artwork must be portable and structurally sound, weighing no more than 150 lbs and able to be moved without mechanized machinery. Artwork will be displayed at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival July 1-3, 2017, and must arrive by June 2, 2017. Shipping costs and professional crating must be included in the $5,000 commission. Applicants must submit five images of previously completed artwork, a detailed description of the intended artwork, and a current resume. Video or sound files may be submitted for kinetic, sound, or electronic media works. Selection criteria include innovative ideas, creative depiction of the Five Years Out theme, professional qualifications, artistic merit, and artwork portability.
