About This Call
ARCUS Research is a short-term, self-funded residency program offering uninterrupted time and a contemplative environment for creative experimentation, in-depth fieldwork, and research. The program welcomes practitioners and professionals in art and other cultural fields, including artists, curators, researchers, university educators, and writers.
Located approximately one hour from Tokyo and thirty minutes from Tsukuba City—known for hosting one of the largest accumulations of science and technology institutes in the world—ARCUS Research provides participants access to the contemporary art scene and leading research institutions while allowing them to devote themselves to their creative endeavors in a calm environment. The program provides valuable time and space for reflection, creative process development, and research across disciplines including Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, and Sculpture.
Submission Deadline: December 8, 2025. Self-funded residency program fees apply.
