Architecture at Art Works Downtown

Art Works Downtown is seeking submissions for an exhibition showcasing the artistic side of architecture. Both art and architectural submissions are welcome. All mediums of artwork are acceptable as long as they relate to architecture, including architectural renderings, designs, diagrams, models, and installation submissions smaller than seven feet in the largest dimension. Emphasis will be given to entries that accentuate the beauty of architecture, creatively push architectural concepts, or explore concepts of architecture. The juror is Erick Moreau, Architect, Artist, and President of Art Works Downtown.

Eligibility is limited to SF Bay Area artists only (within 100 miles from San Rafael, California). Individual artworks must not be larger than six feet in any dimension. Open to all visual arts and architectural media, including video (artist must provide player and monitor; projections are prohibited). Original artwork only—reproductions and artworks previously exhibited in the 1337 Gallery are prohibited. Entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries, with a 50% discount for AWD Artist Members. Submissions must be made through callforentry.org; hardcopy, email, and disk submissions are not accepted.

Entries are due Friday, February 5 at 4pm. Artists will be notified by email on Friday, February 12 or 13. Accepted entries must be hand-delivered to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, February 27. All work must be ready for installation with wall-hung pieces securely wired. Artists must sign a consignment contract upon delivery. The reception is Friday, March 11, 5-8pm, with a second reception on Friday, April 8, 5-8pm. Unsold artwork may be picked up Saturday, April 23, 10am-4pm. Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation upon sale. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a storage fee of $1.00 per day, and works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown.
