Arcana: Painting the Fates

Arcana: Painting the Fates features artistic interpretations of the classic major and minor arcana of tarot. The visual imagery of Tarot has been an inspiration for many people throughout the years, and in this show artists are invited to submit their portfolio and, if chosen, create a custom tarot piece for the show or display existing tarot work. Whether you draw a moon, a tower, a pentacle, or a sword, submissions are welcome. No digital art or art using AI as any part of its process is allowed. Art must be able to hang on a wall and be under 18"x24".

Submissions will be juried by Valkarie Resident Laura Garabedian, Colorado Artist and Illustrator. The entry fee is $30 for submission of 3-5 original pieces for portfolio review. Artists will be notified by Tuesday, April 1st, 2025. The exhibition runs June 12th - July 6th, 2025, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 14th, 2025 from 5-8:30pm and a closing reception and artwork pickup on Sunday, July 6th, 2025. Sold artwork will incur a 30% commission. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance. Purchased artwork must remain in the gallery until the exhibition closes. Artists will receive payment for sold works within one month of the close of the exhibition.

Accepted artwork can be dropped off at Valkarie Gallery, 445 S Saulsbury St, Lakewood, CO 80226 on Saturday, May 31st or Sunday, June 1st (12-5pm). Artwork may also be shipped and must be received by June 1st. All shipped or dropped off art must be protected with bubble wrap and plastic, include the artist's name and title, and have a pre-paid return shipping label. Image submissions must be JPEG format, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and 5 MB maximum file size. All artwork must be original in concept and not copied from another artist's work.
