Arborescent - Resembling Trees

Arborescent is a national juried exhibition welcoming entries of traditional and alternative photography, paintings, and mixed media works regarding trees—their branches, trunks, roots, leaves, bark, new growth, buds, decay, single trees, stands of trees, or forests. The exhibition is open to national artists and photographers 18 years or older.

Juror Lillian Ball is an ecological artist and environmental activist based in New York with a multidisciplinary background in anthropology, ethnographic film, and sculpture. Her work focuses on site-specific conservation initiatives and public projects including WATERWASH® projects along the Bronx River and Mattituck Inlet in New York. Ball has received two New York State Foundation for the Arts grants, a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship in Visual Arts, and a National Endowment for the Arts grant, among other awards.

Exhibition dates are July 18 - August 23, 2020. Twenty-five works will be selected. All works must be framed with a maximum width of 25 inches including frame. Entry fee is $35 for up to three works. Awards include First Place ($500), Second Place ($300), and Honorable Mention ($100). Accepted works must be available for the full exhibition duration. Framed works are due at the gallery July 8-10, 2020. The opening reception and awards presentation is Saturday, July 18 from 6-8pm. Unsold works must be picked up August 24-26, 2020. All works must be for sale with a 50/50 commission split between artist and gallery. Shipping to and from the gallery is the artist's responsibility. Notification of accepted works will be sent by May 29, 2020.
