About This Call
The Appalachian Nature Art & Photography Competition & Exhibition is organized by the Arcadian Gallery in Cumberland, Maryland, to celebrate the beauty of nature across the Appalachian region. The competition features two jurors: Terry Miller for art and Steven David Johnson for photography. The competition is organized by Arcadian Gallery owner and former Art Director of National Geographic, Christopher Sloan.
Accepted artwork and images will be displayed in an in-person exhibition at the Arcadian Gallery in Cumberland, Maryland, located in the heart of the central Appalachians within easy reach of Washington, DC; Baltimore; and Pittsburgh. The exhibition runs from May 15, 2026 to June 20, 2026.
Entry fee is $15 per image with a maximum of 10 entries per person (up to $150 total). The competition offers $2000 in awards. Eligibility is regional, and the competition is open to photography submissions.
