Apis Opus - Wax Media

NKollectiv Gallery invites U.S. artists working in beeswax-based media to apply for the 3rd annual Apis Opus, a juried exhibition celebrating wax media. This includes encaustic, cold-wax medium, and other beeswax-based media, alone or combined with other materials. Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional work will be considered.

Artists may submit up to 3 artworks for consideration with a maximum of 5 photos (including close-up detail shots). An artist statement of 250 words maximum is required. Maximum size for two-dimensional work is 36 x 36"; three-dimensional work must not exceed 12" x 12" x 24"h. The application fee is $37.50. Jurors are Kelly Austin-Rolo, a contemporary painter and printmaker based in Denver working with encaustic, oil, cold wax and mixed media, and Michele Messenger, a Denver-based encaustic artist and educator.

Deadline: March 24, 2025. Artist notification by April 11, 2025. Exhibition runs May 3 to June 1, 2025, with an opening reception on Saturday, May 3, 2-6pm. NKollectiv Gallery is located on the second floor in downtown Englewood as part of EASEL (Englewood Art Studios, Events, Lessons). The gallery is open 6 days a week. Commission split: 65% Artist, 35% Gallery. Shipped work must arrive by Friday, April 25, 2025 with a pre-paid return label. Hand-delivered artwork drop-off is April 27-28, 10am-4pm. Artwork pickup is June 2, 10am-2pm. Shipped artworks will be returned by June 20, and payments for sold work will be sent by June 27.
