About This Call
NKollectiv proudly presents the fourth annual Apis Opus, a juried exhibition honoring the artistry and versatility of beeswax-based media. Named for Apis—the genus of bees—and Opus—a work of art, this national showcase invites U.S. artists working in encaustic, cold-wax, or other beeswax-infused techniques to submit their creations. Originally focused on Colorado-based encaustic works, Apis Opus has evolved into a vibrant platform for both two-dimensional and three-dimensional wax media. The 2026 edition promises a dynamic blend of tradition and innovation, celebrating the luminous textures and expressive depth that beeswax brings to contemporary art.
The exhibition runs April 4 - May 3, 2026, with an opening reception on April 4 and artist talks on April 11. Artists may submit up to 3 artworks for consideration with a maximum size of 30" on the longest side for two-dimensional work and 12" w x 12" l x 24" h for three-dimensional pieces. The entry fee is $38.00, with a 60% artist/40% gallery commission split. Awards include Juror's Choice and People's Choice with no monetary prize.
The juror is Patricia Aaron, an internationally recognized artist celebrated for her intuitive abstract style and expressive mark-making across encaustic, sculpture, textiles, bronze, collage, and printmaking. Her work is represented in permanent collections including the Denver Art Museum, Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art, and museums in Iceland. NKollectiv Gallery is located in downtown Englewood and is managed by artist Nicole Korbe, known for its highly curated collection of artists working in unique and dynamic media.
