APFC Capital Project, Final Phase - Art Requirement

The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation is soliciting proposals from Alaskan artists for the design and installation of artwork in designated areas within the APFC Headquarters. This solicitation is extended in accordance with Alaska Statute 35.27.020, which requires at least one percent of the cost of construction to be used toward public art in the facility. This call for artists is running as the final phase of the renovation; the building has been completed, so the art will need to fit the space's design.

Two locations have been identified for public art: Hallway 308 and Foyer 386. Artwork options include signage, graphic images, wall treatments, embellishments, sculpture, glass design, paintings, or murals. No restrictions on the type or nature of art are directed through this call, as long as the subject is appropriate in a public venue and materials are durable and low maintenance. Artists must submit one piece of art per application, which can be an image, video, or audio file (up to three media files total per application). Artists may submit up to three applications. The total budget will include design, production (including travel), and installation of the artwork. Design mockups must be completed by March 8, 2021, with complete installation required by June 1, 2021. The Art Panel, comprised of seven APFC staff members and one member from the Partnership Board, will select one or more artists and multiple pieces of art for this project.

Desirable attributes of all artists making proposals include exceptional communication and collaboration skills. The intent of this call is to select artwork concepts of one or more artists who will then work with the Art Panel to refine and implement the selected artworks in the desired spaces.
