Aperture Portfolio Prize 2013

The Aperture Portfolio Prize identifies trends in contemporary photography and highlights artists whose work deserves greater recognition. Aperture's editorial and curatorial staff seek innovative bodies of work that haven't been widely seen in major publications or exhibition venues.

The first-prize winner receives $3,000 and an exhibition at Aperture. The first-prize winner and up to five runners-up will be featured on Aperture's website for approximately one year with a brief editorial statement written by Aperture staff. Winners are announced in Aperture's e-newsletter, which reaches forty thousand subscribers. Winners also have the opportunity to offer their prints via the Aperture Foundation limited-edition print program.

Entrants must be current, paid subscribers of Aperture magazine (print or digital), with subscriptions running through at least the summer 2013 issue (#211). The entry fee is $25. Submissions must include 15 images with title/caption information, a resume/CV, a statement of up to 250 words about your work, and your Aperture magazine subscriber number. The entry period opens January 7, 2013, and closes February 28, 2013, at noon EDT. All entrants will be contacted with final results by the end of July 2013. Submissions should come directly from artists, not from galleries or representatives. No exceptions will be made for late submissions.
