APAA Open International Pastel Exhibition

This exhibition is open to all pastel artists. All work must be original pastel painting completed in the last two years (2022–2024) and not previously shown in an APAA exhibition or show. Work that was entered but not accepted into a previous APAA show may be entered again, provided it meets prospectus requirements. Entries must be of original concept and design. Work copied from images, paintings, or photographs that have been published or appeared on the internet, DVD, or any publication shall not be eligible. All artwork must be completed with 85% dry pastel as a final layer; underpainting as part of the process is acceptable, but no oil pastels are permitted. Work done under supervision, mentorship, or in an instructed class, workshop, online instruction, published step-by-step instruction, DVD, or any other form of instruction is not eligible.

Entry fees are $45 for APAA members or $55 for non-members for 3 entries. Entry fees are non-refundable. A maximum of one painting per artist will be accepted into the exhibit. All paintings must be for sale with no NFS (Not For Sale) or POR (Price on Request) options. Sales commission: Artist 60%, Phippen Museum 30%, APAA 10%. Any painting withdrawn as an entry by the artist after the deadline will be subject to a payment to APAA of 25% of the stated sales price. No price changes will be accepted after submission. Accepted paintings must be identical to the image submitted for entry with no substitutions, copies, adjustments, repairs, or modifications allowed. The prices on accepted paintings must match the price on the artist's website, gallery, and other platforms.

Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Crop images to include only the artwork itself with no visible matting, frames, or background distractions. Ensure images are oriented correctly and use the sRGB color profile for best results. Shipped paintings will be invoiced separately at $35 and can be paid by credit card or PayPal. Hand-delivered paintings must be in a portfolio with a handle and label, completely enclosing the painting and zipped shut. The artist is responsible for insurance of artwork in transit to and from the show.
