Antelopes on Parade!

The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) and the City of Palmdale's Public Art Division invite local artists to create original artworks on fiberglass antelope sculptures. Taking place every ten years, Antelopes on Parade! celebrates the richness of the Antelope Valley region. The selection committee will select eight antelope designs (four for the City of Lancaster and four for the City of Palmdale) to be produced by local artists and displayed throughout the two cities. Completed antelope sculptures will debut on Saturday, October 3 at the Kaleidoscope Art and Music Festival at Marie Kerr Park, 39700 30th St. W, Palmdale, CA 93551.

Artists must download the Antelopes on Parade! template and submit their designs on this template for consideration. Complete template design submissions must have both front and back views completed. One additional supplemental image showing details or design elements may also be submitted. Artists must be aware of and have experience manipulating fiberglass, and must purchase necessary personal protection equipment. Artists may submit a maximum of two separate applications. Eligible applicants must reside within specified ZIP codes in the Antelope Valley region. Artists of all ages are welcome; artists 17 and under must have parent permission.

Selected artists will receive a $250 honorarium for their time and design, plus a $100 materials stipend. Entry fees: $10.00 for template entry (required) and $5.00 for supplemental entry (optional). Online submission deadline is Sunday, July 19 at 5 PM. Notification of accepted designs is Friday, July 24. Completion of antelope sculptures is due Sunday, September 27, with pick-up Monday, September 28 through Friday, October 2 by appointment.
