About This Call
The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) and the City of Palmdale's Public Art Division invite local artists to create original artworks on fiberglass antelope sculptures for Antelopes on Parade. This year's selection committee will select two antelope designs for the City of Lancaster and two for the City of Palmdale to be produced by local artists and displayed throughout the two cities. Completed antelope sculptures will debut and be on display at the Kaleidoscope Art and Music Festival on October 11-12.
Artists must submit designs online through callforentry.org (CaFE) using the required Antelopes on Parade template, which must include both front and back views. One optional supplemental image showing details or design elements may also be submitted. Artists may submit a maximum of two separate applications. Entry fee is $10.00 for the template submission, with an optional $5.00 supplemental entry fee. Work samples must include a minimum of 2 images and a maximum of 2 total samples.
Eligibility is open to artists of all media and all ages (artists 17 and under must have parental permission) who reside within specified ZIP codes in the Antelope Valley region. Selected artists will receive a $250 honorarium for their time and design, plus a $100 materials stipend. Antelope sculptures are made of fiberglass; submitting artists should be aware of and have experience manipulating this material and must purchase necessary personal protection equipment. Completed sculptures must be executed in good faith, staying true to the submitted design, and must be clean, dry, and ready for display by Monday, October 7. Jury dates are September 10-11, with notification of accepted designs by September 11.
