About This Call
This exhibition is open to all Art and Design students at Fort Hays State University who are eligible to enter recent work from the 2020-2021 academic year. There is no entry fee. Each student may enter up to four pieces of work in any medium or media. Motion graphic submissions must provide a laptop or iPad for gallery showing.
Only gallery-quality work will be accepted. Works must be framed under glass or Plexiglas (paintings may have wrapped painted edges). Matted works without glass or Plexiglas will not be accepted. Students are responsible for getting their own work properly matted and framed. Artwork may be alternatively installed in the gallery through pinning, nailing, and magnets, with approval from the Chair or Gallery Director for any work requiring special display or hanging, such as hanging sculpture or installation pieces.
Scholarships are available for Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who have at least one semester of classes remaining. Graduating seniors are not eligible for scholarships but may receive an Honorable Mention Award. Awards include twenty $200 Student Honors Scholarships and three $1,000 Fields Scholarships. Scholarship winners will be announced via email and posted to the website and social media accounts. The juror is John Hachmeister, an artist and art educator with extensive exhibition history and experience teaching at the Kansas City Art Institute, Johnson County Community College, and the University of Kansas.
