About This Call

Site:Brooklyn invites contemporary artists to submit work for a juried online exhibition exploring animals in art and culture. Since humans first painted animals on cave walls, artists have explored our complex relationship with the creatures that share our world. This exhibition seeks work that explores personal connections with animals, how animal materials have shaped artistic traditions, or how creatures serve as symbols in storytelling and political commentary. Imaginative interpretations presenting animals through fantasy, myth, or allegorical representation are welcome. Whether your work celebrates, critiques, or simply observes our relationship with the animal kingdom, this exhibition welcomes painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and beyond.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in all media. Only original works may be submitted. Entry fee is $26.00 for three images, with an additional $10.00 per image up to a maximum of 12 images total. Video submissions are also accepted (0-3 videos). All entries must be received by October 8, 2025 at 11:59 PM MT. Jury dates are October 9-16, 2025, with notification on October 16, 2025. The online exhibition runs October 29 - November 29, 2025.

Once accepted, artists must upload high-resolution photo files of their work. All artwork must be priced for sale and available throughout the exhibition. Artists will retain a 60% commission on all sales. The juror is Jesse Bandler Firestone, a curator and writer of contemporary art with experience at institutions including Montclair State University, Wave Hill, The Shed, and Residency Unlimited.
