About This Call
Angad Arts Hotel and Grand Tavern invite submissions for artwork from the Greater Saint Louis region for display in 2019. The newly-opened hotel, voted 4th Best New Hotel in North America by USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice, is the first hotel in the world where guests can book their room by the color of emotion. Selected artwork will be prominently showcased in public areas of Grand Tavern and Angad Arts Hotel in the Grand Center Arts District.
Eligibility is open to individuals 18 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius (Chicago, IL and Kansas City, MO are not eligible). Submissions may include drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, printmaking, glass, assemblage, collage, written word, or fiber. Final pieces must be professionally framed and/or ready to hang. Entry fee is $35 per submission with a maximum of 3 entries permitted. Submissions must include full name and contact information, social media handles, artist statement, purchase valuation, high resolution JPEG of artwork (including frame), and artwork title, size (exact dimensions including frame), weight, and media description. Optional materials include curriculum vitae/resume and written summary of relevant experience (500 words maximum).
Submission deadline is Friday, May 10th, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Notification to all entrants will be sent by Friday, May 24th, 2019. Artwork must be delivered between Wednesday, May 22nd and Friday, May 31st, 2019. The opening reception is Tuesday, June 11th, 2019. Selected artwork will receive professional photography and documentation, high quality video interviews with artists (if available and within regional proximity), promotion through AAH's website and social media, inclusion in AAH's digital archive and the Storyteller art magazine, and inclusion in Grand Center First Friday artwalk and walking tours. All artwork is available for purchase with AAH retaining 20% commission and the artist receiving 80% of sale. Artist is responsible for delivery to and from the venue.
