About This Call
Beacon Gallery invites artists to explore how the analog to digital transition has impacted their work, identity, community, and worldview. Artists are encouraged to respond through their medium of choice—painting, mixed media, video, audio, sculpture, or photography—and may optionally include a poem, paragraph, or essay explaining their experience.
The competition is open to all artists 18 years and older, internationally. A non-refundable entry fee of $35 allows submission of up to 5 original 2D or 3D artworks in any medium. Work must be framed and/or ready to hang (wired or d-rings) or otherwise display-ready. Video and audio work may be submitted. Only one image per artwork should be submitted, and the image must accurately represent the art being submitted. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery and for any display needs such as pedestals unless otherwise arranged. The gallery is not responsible for works damaged in transit or from poor framing. Work may be submitted as NFS but requires a price for insurance purposes. For all sales, the artist-gallery split is 50%-50%.
Submissions open October 5 and close November 30, 2018. Acceptance notification is December 7th. In-person delivery of accepted works is January 5th-6th. The exhibition opens January 11th with an opening reception and awards announcement, and closes February 24th. Artwork pickup is February 25th & 26th. Jurors include Chris Lee (creative director and digital artist), Christine O'Donnell (owner and gallery director of Beacon Gallery), and Kimberly Thompson Panay (Director of Marketing and Communications for the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston).
